Meet Dr. Josh: Helping People Heal, Grow, and Become More Fully Themselves

Dr. Joshua Pickell is a holistic chiropractor in Brooklyn known for helping people identify the hidden patterns behind pain, stress, and dysfunction so they can experience meaningful and lasting change.
Meet Dr. Josh
Dr. Joshua Pickell is a chiropractor, nervous system practitioner, and creator of Resonance Architecture, an evolving framework for understanding health, performance, and human potential. He was inspired to open Alternative Space Chiropractic in 2023 as a space where physical health, nervous system function, and personal growth intersect – helping people create lasting change, reconnect with their innate capacity for healing, and become more fully themselves.
Known for his ability to recognize patterns that others overlook, Dr. Josh helps people make sense of complex challenges by identifying the underlying factors driving them. Whether someone is dealing with chronic pain, stress, burnout, recurring injuries, or a feeling of being stuck in life, his work focuses on restoring connection between the body, nervous system, and the person beneath the symptoms.
Journey and Education
His path into healthcare began in 2012 as a personal trainer, where he developed a fascination with growth, human performance, and the body’s ability to adapt and heal. He later earned his Doctor of Chiropractic degree, graduating Cum Laude from Life Chiropractic College West in 2020 after completing undergraduate studies in Biology and Leadership Studies at the University of Richmond in 2014.
Service and Perspective
Over the years, Dr. Josh has worked with thousands of people from a wide range of backgrounds, from infants to older adults. Early experience in high-volume clinics sharpened his clinical observation skills and taught him to quickly identify patterns contributing to pain, dysfunction, and stress. Those experiences continue to shape the way he practices today.
His perspective was further shaped through service work abroad. While attending chiropractic school, he participated in a service trip to India, where his team provided care to more than 11,000 people over the course of three days. Later, he helped organize and participate in a service trip to Vietnam. These experiences reinforced a lesson that continues to guide his work today: regardless of culture, language, age, or background, human beings possess an innate capacity to heal when given the right support and conditions.
Drawing from chiropractic, craniosacral work, movement, neuroscience, systems thinking, and years of clinical observation, he combines seemingly unrelated pieces of information into practical insights that create meaningful change. Patients often describe feeling deeply seen, understood, and empowered after working with him. While his work frequently helps people overcome physical complaints, many discover benefits that extend far beyond symptom relief — greater clarity, resilience, confidence, and alignment with the life they want to create.
“We change the world not by what we say or do, but as a consequence of what we have become.” – Dr. David R. Hawkins
Philosophy
His philosophy is simple: the body is intelligent, health is not as complicated as we have been taught to believe, and meaningful transformation becomes possible when we address the whole person rather than isolated symptoms.
After working with thousands of people from many different backgrounds, Dr. Josh has observed a common thread: the human body is remarkably intelligent. While every person expresses health challenges differently, the body is always adapting, communicating, and attempting to move toward healing.
His work is not about forcing the body to heal. It is about identifying and removing the forms of interference that prevent people from expressing their full potential physically, mentally, and emotionally.
Outside of practice, Dr. Josh continues to study, teach, and refine his work through ongoing education, clinical observation, and service. His mission is to help people reconnect with their innate capacity for healing and live more fully expressed lives.
