Your First Visit
Start by Understanding What’s Going On
Your first visit is an opportunity to slow down, talk about what you’ve been experiencing, and understand how your body is functioning.
The visit begins with a conversation about what brought you in, what you’ve been experiencing, and what you’d like help with. From there, Dr. Josh will perform a thorough assessment and examination to better understand what’s going on and what may be contributing to your symptoms.
He will then explain what he found and answer your questions. If Dr. Josh believes he can help based on the assessment, he will recommend a personalized plan and discuss the next steps to help you reach your goals.
Two Ways to Begin
Complimentary Consultation
If you’d like to meet Dr. Josh and talk through what’s been going on before deciding whether to move forward, you can start with a complimentary, in-office consultation.
This is typically a 15-minute conversation about your situation, what you’ve tried, and what you’re looking for. If it makes sense to continue, you can move forward with the evaluation.
When time allows, the evaluation can take place immediately afterward. Otherwise, it can be scheduled for another day.
Complimentary Consultation — No Charge
New Patient Evaluation — $295
For those who are ready to move forward, the New Patient Evaluation includes a thorough clinical assessment and examination, an explanation of the findings, time for questions, and a personalized recommendation when appropriate.
The evaluation typically takes about one hour and includes:
- A detailed conversation about what you’ve been experiencing
- A thorough clinical assessment and examination
- An explanation of the findings
- Time for questions and discussion
- A personalized recommendation, when appropriate
The $295 fee covers the professional evaluation.
If chiropractic care is not the right fit, that will be communicated and, when possible, guidance toward a more appropriate resource will be provided.
If care is recommended, the findings and recommended plan will be discussed before you decide whether you’d like to begin.
Starting Care
If you decide to move forward with care, we’ll schedule a separate 30-minute visit to get started.
This visit is not a regular treatment session. It’s an opportunity to establish the foundation for your care plan and the visits that follow. We’ll review your recommendations, establish your initial home care, answer any remaining questions, and begin with a gentle, calming session appropriate for where you are in the process.
We’ll start thoughtfully, see how your body responds, and build from there rather than trying to do everything at once.
Your care plan is a separate investment from the $295 New Patient Evaluation. Care options and pricing are discussed after the evaluation and before care begins.
What to Expect
1. Conversation
The visit begins with a conversation about what brought you in and what you’ve been experiencing. Questions will focus on the details of your symptoms, relevant history, how your experience is affecting your daily life, and what you’re hoping to change.
2. Assessment
The assessment looks at how your body is functioning through movement, posture, neurological and orthopedic testing, palpation, and other clinical assessments as appropriate. When clinically necessary, outside referrals for imaging or other appropriate evaluation will be provided.
3. Understanding
The findings are explained in clear, understandable language, with time to ask questions and discuss what they mean in the context of your individual situation.
4. Recommendations
When chiropractic care is appropriate, a personalized plan will be recommended based on the findings, circumstances, and your goals.
If chiropractic care is not the right fit, that will be communicated to you and appropriate referrals will be made when possible.
5. Starting Care
When you decide to move forward, the Starting Care visit begins the process. During that visit, you’ll first review your home care recommendations, followed by a gentle session appropriate for where you are in the process.
From there, care develops according to how your body responds.
A Whole-Person Approach
The body doesn’t experience symptoms in isolation.
Movement, physical demands, stress, sleep, previous injuries, habits, and many other factors can influence how the body functions and adapts.
The approach at Alternative Space Chiropractic is to understand the larger context rather than focusing only on the areas with symptoms.
Care is customized to the person, the findings, and what the body is showing at each stage of the process.
